Bessemer Speed Boys topped Hurley Midgets 26 to 0 at Memorial Field in Hurley. Dan Drazkowski, Jerry Drazkowski, and Bill Joki ran in scores, with Ollikainen converting extra points. Hurley’s defense, led by Jack Miller, held late, while George Carpenedo, John Quigley, and Lew Berkovitz anchored the line. Separately, Mrs. Peter J. Giacherio of Ironwood died Tuesday at age 64, with services planned at Sharon Lutheran Church in Bessemer. Citywide overnight parking ban in Bessemer requires cars off all streets from 2 to 7 a m during winter to aid plowing. Violators face towing at owner expense and possible fines. St Sebastian Bazaar Sets Two Day Parish Festival
The St Sebastian Parish Fall Festival will run Saturday November 5 and Sunday November 6 in the St Sebastian School new all purpose room. General chairman Rev Raymond Valerio presides as committees collect articles for checking in and out. Festivities feature the Kitchen Band, a farmyard gymnasium, pirate lunches, booths with gift items, social games, and a smorgasbord Sunday from 4 to closing. Proceeds fund the new gymnasium all purpose room and kitchen, praised as modern and fabulous.

An alumna of the College of St Scholastica Duluth Navy Nurse Commander Mary Kovacevich serves as chief nurse aboard the hospital ship USS Repose off Viet Nam. She leads 29 nurses facing battlefield casualties and medical issues. Previous duty includes Guam Charleston and Minneapolis assignments from 1961 to 1966.

Mr and Mrs John Corona celebrated twenty five years of marriage with an open house at their Bessemer home. Mrs Carlquist Dies At 79 In Ironwood On Thursday
Mrs Erick Carlquist 79 of 117 S Curry St Ironwood died Thursday Oct 27 at 2 pm in Divine Infant Hospital Wakefield after a year of ill health. Born Lacy Escmorewski May 1 1887 in Polsend she came to Ironwood in 1895 at age eight. She worked as a professional seamstress and was widowed twice, first from John W Dubs in 1942 and then by her remarriage to Carlquist in 1954 at St Michael's Church. She was active in Catholic Women’s Order of Forest ers and the Royal Neighbors.

The sixth annual Creative Arts Scholarship program at Michigan State University invites Michigan high school seniors in art and sculpture, creative writing, theatre and music to apply. Applicants must be recommended by teachers, qualify for MSU admission, and deadline is December 15 for the 1967 68 academic year.
