78 Graduates in Bessemer Township Class of 35
A class of 78 ninth graders received diplomas at the Bessemer township schools commencement held in the Ramsay school gymnasium. The program featured the school band, trumpet duets, readings, a saxophone duet, violin solo, and speeches. Funeral services for Matt McMinn veteran hoisting engineer and Bisbee resident for 31 years, will be held from the Elks home at 4 30 this afternoon May 22 with Rev Griffith Davies officiating and Elks service. Surviving: widow son W C McMinn three step children two grandchildren two brothers and three sisters plus honorary pall bearers from the rifle club and active pall bearers from the Calumet and Arizona Mining Company. A French torpedo boat Duragon reportedly torpedoed itself in a freak accident caused by a faulty gyroscopic raider.

Dan Russo Orchestra to Headline Military Ball at Frondrome
Dan Russo and his original Orioles from Chicago will headline the fourth annual Military Ball by Peter Gedda Post No. 27 at the Frondrome this evening. The orchestra arrives from Madison, Wisconsin after a recent engagement and returns to Chicago afterward. The event opens the summer dancing season and Legion officials expect a large crowd if the weather is good. The 11-piece group features saxophonist Omer Van Speybrook and singer Miss Sally Sage, with prior appearances at Canton Tea Gardens and on national and Chicago radio networks. The Frondrome decorations include a checkerboard black and white ceiling.

All penalties and interest are waived except a four percent collection charge if taxes are paid by the new date. After November 1 penalties will be added. Moses Timinen, Ironwood township farmer in Wisconsin, seeks a conditional pardon at the Madison board of pardons meeting in July. He stabbed Ben Macinski on a Hurley street corner on Sept 19, 1933, causing fatal wounds hours later. Timinen pled guilty to manslaughter at the December 1933 Iron County circuit court, receiving four to seven years at Waupun.

Fire damages Joswiak tavern on Lead Street
Fire believed caused by defective wiring did hundreds of dollars damage to the George Joswiak tavern on Lead Street early last Saturday morning. Fire confined to the rear. alarm raised shortly after 1 a.m. A separate car fire near Barber School at 11:30 yesterday morning was extinguished by the fire department.
