Bessemer High School Grants Diplomas At Annual Commencement
125 members of the Bessemer high school class received diplomas at the A. D. Johnston gymnasium. The class, split 65 boys and 62 girls, is three fewer than last year’s 128. Rev. Vogler delivered the address, with salutatorian Anthony Furmanski and co-valedictorians Peter Torreano and Helen Hansen among speakers. A male quartet performed Those Pals of Ours under the program led by Supt. E. J. Oas and Dr. C. E Stevens.

Koronski Named County Airport Superintendent
George W. Koronski, manager of the county airport, was named superintendent by the county board airport committee. The airport will be improved under his direction. Koronski was authorized to attend the state aeronautical convention at Traverse City May 28 and 29.

Mrs Bross Dies Saturday After Appendix Operation
Mrs. William Bross aged 24 died Saturday night at Grand View hospital after an operation for ruptured appendix. Born in Italy in 1911, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Federle of Ironton. She married on November 16, 1929. She leaves her husband, daughter Margaret, parents, a brother Arthur, and two sisters Josephine and Mrs. John Stefanik of Yale. Funeral was held Wednesday morning at St Sebastian Catholic church.

Contracting Firm Head Passes Away
Lewis C. Barnett former head of Barnett & Record died May 18 in Washington at age SS. He lived in Duluth and Minneapolis and is survived by his wife and daughter. The firm built grain elevators and heavy structures including the new sewage disposal plant in Bessemer last year.

Dairy Day in Gogebic County Boosts Dairy Industry
Gogebic County hosts its first Dairy Day as part of the annual Farmers and Businessmen's Picnic on June 30 at the Ironwood fairgrounds. The event aims to select top Guernsey and Holstein animals for county herds bound for the U P State Fair, with entries opening at 7 a.m. and judging at 10:30 a.m. Dairy health rules require negative Bangs test within 60 days of the show.

William S. Baird enters GOP probate judge race in Gogebic County
William S. Baird declared candidacy for the Republican nomination for probate judge. A longtime Gogebic County lawyer with over thirty years of practice, he has served as circuit court commissioner and city attorney for Bessemer. During World War I he led prosecuting duties in the absence of the attorney general and previously served one term as probate judge before a narrow defeat. He has focused on municipal and probate law and is a former Gogebic County Bar Association president.

Stores will close for Memorial Day with many closing by 9 p.m. to serve weekend shoppers. The Bessemer and Ramsay American Legion posts co host the ceremonies. About 30 Michigan Tech students from Houghton will arrive in Ishpeming on June 8 for a two week stay at the Holmes mine of Oliver Iron Mining. They travel under Professor C. H.
