The Bessemer Woman's Club held its last meeting of the year on May 5. Officers for 1942 43 were installed, district federation plans were outlined, and delegates named. The Speakers' Bureau Advisory committee of Gogebic county met at Ramsay town hall to plan victory speakers and policy implementation for war topics. H. O. Bessemer High Beats Ironwood in 3-1 Baseball Victory
A.D. Johnston’s Bessemer High baseball team, coached by Ippolito, beat Ironwood 3 to 1 at Massie Field on Tuesday. Heikkinen allowed two hits, Koivisto five. batteries were Heikkinen-Miklich for Bessemer and Koivisto-Gorilla for Ironwood. Tronwood scored in the fourth. all Bessemer runs came in the sixth. Junior Prom To Be Held Tonight In High School Gym
The junior class president William Velin and Miss Shirley Blaha will lead the grand march at the Junior Prom tonight in the high school gym. A popular range orchestra will play for the grand march and dancing. Decorations have a military theme with sandbags tents rifles flags bunting and insignia. Officers include Velin Hansen Milakovich and Mullen with Miss Mary Jordan as faculty advisor.

Genetti Graduates as First Lieutenant at Carlisle Barracks
On May 2, 1942 at Carlisle Barracks two hundred sixty six Medical Department officers of the United States Army completed two months training at the Medical Field Service School. The ceremony in the Post Theater featured remarks by Commandant Brigde r General Addison D. Davis. Emil J. Geretti of Bessemer graduated with the rank of First Lieutenant.

Transportation report forms issued to superintendents and
Superintendents and county school commissioners will receive this week transportation report forms. All buses, both district owned and contract, are to be reported, together with costs and routes. All buses must be reported even if the district is not reimbursed by state aid either directly or indirectly. The superintendent of a school district which operates a bus is asked to notify the Department of Public Instruction if report blanks are not received within a week.
