Detroit Board of Education to Challenge New School Fund Law
The Detroit Board of Education plans a legal challenge to the newly enacted state primary school fund distribution law. It would strip Wayne county of 225 000 to 300 000 dollars, reallocating to sparsely populated upstate counties, with possible action as soon as the measure takes effect. The governor urged a test before the state supreme court, likely via a friendly suit between departments, while the Detroit board acts independently.
