Convention Crowded with Events for Bessemer Legion Meet
The Defender notes the June 21 to 23 convention will feature log rolling by world champions Girard and Glazier, an old fashioned outdoor barbecue, and a major boxing card led by Martin Burke and Jack Clifford. Burke and Clifford, veterans with storied records, will headline a no rounds bout, while Art Pertile and Carl Augustine meet in a 10 round semi windup. Junior bouts include Sopko vs Crocker and Matrea vs Ahnen as part of a 30 round card officiated in Bessemer Michigan with Osborn as principal speaker.
