Handicap to Play ers Cy Seymour And Campbell In Baseball
Cy Seymour struggled to control the ball in New York Giants days due to very small hands, moving from pitcher to outfielder where his hitting prevailed. Vincent Campbell of the Boston team shares the handicap, with quick speed but poor patience at the plate and base running, leading to 624 at bats and only 19 steals while Bescher racked 67 steals. Campbell’s poor waiting habit, despite speed, reduced on-base opportunities and affected his overall value as a leadoff man.
