Secretary of State Fred M Warner issued a census instructions pamphlet for the June start. Enumerators must take an oath secrecy is required and penalties range to 100 dollars for violations. They work ten hours daily from June 1 to July 1 with three dollars per day, while factory enumerators earn five dollars.
The Gugebic Service Company, a Wisconsin corporation with HQ in Hurley, forms with 2500 shares at $10 each and a $600,000 mortgage. Officers include E. Nelson as president and C. M. Humphrey as secretary, with directors G. B. Scott, Geo. C. Foster, and C. S. Raeseer. The firm plans to expand Twin City railway facilities toward Peace and Bessemer.
The Calumet and Arizona Mining Company declares a quarterly dividend of $1.50 per share to be paid this month. The company is praised as a sound investment amid growing interest in Bonanza circle of Arizona mining properties.
