The Upper Peninsula Frem en's tours and Bessemer prepare a week long homecoming August 2 to 7 with a tournament August 4 to 7. The annual Upper Peninsula Firemen's Association meeting opens August 4 at 2 p.m. Officers elected and 1958 convention city chosen. Parades, races, dances, carnival and queen contest slated with goats, decorated cars and bicycles prizes. Housing needed. residents should contact Paul Becker housing chair.

Local Man Dies In Hospital Wednesday
Arvo Waino a Bessemer resident for several years died at 4 am Wednesday in Grand View hospital aged 39. Immigrated from Finland in 1923 he lived in Wakefield and Ramsay before moving here. Survived by widow one son four stepdaughters two stepsons. Family resides in the Keough building Lead street. Parents and several siblings live in Finland.

John P. Norton of Escanaba was elected president of the Upper Peninsula Development Bureau at the annual meeting in Sault Ste. Marie. Joseph J. Herbert of Manistique became first vice president, Abbot Fox of Iron Mountain second vice president, and Co. J. McCauley of Wells will remain treasurer. Ironwood was chosen for the 1938 meeting. Retiring president John R. Merrifield was praised and given a wrist watch. The bureau has invested over three-quarters of a million dollars since 1911.
