Aged Bessemer Man Dies After Long Illness
Joseph Bonovetz, 77, of Tildey, died at 12 55 p m Monday at Grand View hospital after a two year illness. Born in Austria on April 25 1865, he lived in the United States 56 years and in Bessemer 45. Survived by his wife four sons John of Norway Mich Joseph Puritan Anton at Greenland Army base and William in Ireland and three daughters Mrs R Makowitz Newport Mrs William Walia Cleveland and Mrs One McKevitt Ironwood. Funeral at St Sebastian church Thursday at 9 conducted by Rev C J Swoboda. Interment Hillcrest cemetery. Pallbearers were National Croatian Society of America No 302 members Joseph Matanich John Pavlovich Robert Loncharte Vincent Loncharte Tom Kutrovac. Croatian lodge members attended.

County CIO Unions Establish Council In Gogebic County
About 25 delegates from nine CIO local unions in Gogebic County met on June 30 at United Steelworkers of America headquarters to form an industrial union council. August Scholle, president of the Michigan State Industrial Union Council CIO, outlined CIO aims and the council’s functions.
