Executive board members of home extension groups met in Ironwood Monday night to set annual goals including nutrition education, aid to defense agencies, year round self sufficiency, expanding groups and new members, family participation, and promoting 4-H work. A deer yard trip is planned for Sunday March 8, with a quilt fundraising idea approved and a $10 budget for Farmers Week delegates.

Woods Worker Dies at Bessemer After Heart Attack
William Billich, 52, a kitchen helper for Mosinee Lumber at Camp E. of the Mosinee company on Chaney Lake road south of Wakefield, died at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday in a physician's office in Bessemer after suffering a heart attack en route and another fatal attack while being treated. He had worked for the Mosinee company for several years.

City defense service recruits volunteers for police and firemen

Death took Mrs. Oscar Johnson, 61, of 316 South Moore Street, Sunday morning at 6 45 at the family home after illness since New Years Day. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 o clock from C. W. Moore funeral home. Burial was in Hillcrest cemetery with Rev. C. A Brostrom officiating. Born November 27 1880 in Vasa Finland she came to the United States at age ten, lived in Ironwood until 1911 then in Bessemer township and Bessemer. Surviving are her husband six daughters and seven sons including Mrs William Banfield Puritan Mrs William Hakkala Ironwood Mrs Stanley Sokolowski Detroit and several at home Arvid Barberton Ohio Clarence and Bernard of Bessemer Stanley Wakefield Herbert Wakefield Lawrence Bessemer Leonard Detroit 18 grandchildren and three sisters and one brother.
