The Daily Iron Trade Review reports over 1,000 tons of steel required for west contracts last week, with railroads contributing more than 12,000 tons. Notable awards include 14,000 tons for the Insurance Exchange building in Chicago, 5,000 tons of bridges for the Chicago & Northwestern line, and 6,000 tons for an ore dock for Lake Superior & Ishpeming. Illinois Steel booked 10,000 tons of standard rails, with about 40,000 tons of rails booked in the west this year.
