Thomas Stark Dies At Gogebic Hospital
Thomas Stark died at Gogebic Hospital in Wakefield after a long illness. Born in Finland on April 17, 1882, he immigrated to the United States and settled in Ironwood before moving to Ramsay in 1924. A miner by trade, Stark was a former member of the Newport and Ironwood municipal bands. He married Sanna Nurkka in 1912. Survived by his wife, daughter Mrs Allen Weber of Winchester Idaho, sons Robert of Ramsay and Reuben of Waukesha Wis, eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a brother and two sisters in Finland.

Veterans Oppose Tampering Funds Meeting Called by Gogebic Council
The Gogebic County Council of Veterans Affairs calls a special meeting of all county veterans at the American Lesson clubrooms in Bessemer on Thursday evening Jan 22 to oppose liquidating the Michigan Veterans Trust Fund. The meeting urges WWII and Korean Conflict veterans to attend and to write lawmakers if unable to attend. Funeral services were held last Friday at 9 am for Mrs Edward Tusa. A Requiem High Mass was celebrated by Rev Francis Krusty at St Sebastian Church. Interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery with pallbearers including LaFon Lyons Louis Callovi Ernest Oberst Fiori Colassacco Douglas Allen and Domenic Chiapuzio. Auxiliary members of the County Seat Post Veterans of Foreign Wars posted an honor guard. Relatives from out of town attended from Wisconsin Michigan Illinois and Puerto Rico among others. The notice also includes election related legal text about registration in the township.
