Funeral services for Peter Moccardine 64 were conducted at J J Frick funeral home and St Sebastian church. Born in Milan Italy on June 23 1883 he settled in the area in 1915 and worked for Oliver Iron Mining until 1944. Survived by his widow two sons Gene and Reno a daughter Dorothy Rostello and three grandchildren. out of town relatives included Gemé and Reno Moccardine of Lansing and other relatives from Ironwood Hurley and Rhinelander.

Mrs Wodrazka Dies in Chicago at 32
Mrs William Wodrazka 32 died last Sunday in Chicago after a brief illness. Born Josephine Federle in Erwin township on May 24 1915 she moved to Chicago in 1938 joining International Register Co. She married William Wodrazka on November 9 1940 and they lived in Chicago. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9 am from St Sebastian church, with burial at Hillcrest cemetery. Surviving: husband, her parents Mr and Mrs Peter Federle, sister Mrs John Stefanik Puritan and brother Arthur Federle Ramsay.

Dorothy Savitski daughter of Mr and Mrs John Savitski married Leonard Erickson son of Nesto Erickson on Saturday January 3 at 2 pm in the presence of immediate relatives. Rev C J Swoboda officiated. The bride wore heaven blue wool with white feather hat and white accessories. Bridesmaid Lucille Savitski wore grey wool with red roses. A 6 pm wedding dinner for 50 was held at the American Legion club rooms. The couple will reside in the Selin apartments. Mr Erickson is a former navy man and employee at Underwood Veneer. Mrs Erickson worked at a glove factory.

John Corda longtime Pioneers member dies New Year’s Day at age 79 in Bessemer after a long illness. Born in Germany January 6 1863 he immigrated to the United States, first living in Stevens Point Wisconsin before moving to Bessemer in 1884 to work in local mines. The Pickands Mathers Company operating agents for mining properties in the Lake Superior district reported 12,273,525 tons shipped in 1947, up from 11,116,968 in 1945 and 11,957,962 in 1946. Mahoning open pit at Hithim Minn led with 2,392,138 tons, Embarrass at Bessemer sent 425,048 tons, Cary mine west of Hurley 296,088 tons, and Palmer open pit on Marquette ramte with Volunteer shipped 139,543 tons. Davidson James and Back mines in Iron River district totaled 1,102,346 tons.

Mary Koskey Dies In Grand Rapids
Miss Mary Koskey a native of Bessemer died in Grand Rapids where she had lived with her brothers Bernard and Ivar. She taught in Cleveland schools after years as a local instructor, and funeral services were held there. She was daughter of the late Oscar and Mrs. Koskey former Bessemer residents. She is survived by two sisters Elvira a Cleveland public school instructor and others.
