Upper Peninsula Seeks Separate Federal Judicial District
A Marquette Sunday conference of upper peninsula attorneys adopted a resolution urging creation of a separate and distinct federal judicial district for the peninsula. An executive committee of 15 lawyers representing each county was appointed to push the plan with backing from bar associations across eight counties. A fund of about $1,000 was authorized to cover executive work and delegate travels to Washington.

Denies New Trial in Carnival Case in Marquette
Judge F A Bell in circuit court at Marquette awarded the Bessemer American Legion post $950 in its suit against the Dodson World Fair shows for failing to fill its contract. The post had spent on window cards advertising and electric current, seeking recovery for preliminary expenses. The Dodson company reportedly had strong patronage on the Minnesota range and cancelled its Gogebic county stand. The Legion indicated it would accept the award. if not, a new trial would be granted. Attorney L B Garvin argued the verdict was excessive.

Mrs Scialdo Dies At Daughter's Home At 83
Mrs Theresa Scialdo age 83 died last Friday morning at her daughter Mrs Michael Brugso home after a year long illness due to chronic myocardial disease. Born in Italy she came to America 26 years ago and lived with her daughter the past year. Funeral services were held Monday at St Beburtion Catholic church with Rev C J Bwoboda officiating and interment in Hillrost cemetery. Pallbearers were Joseph Beavarda John Beaver da Joseph Odile Dominic Michela James Pavetto and Maceo Bofo.

From Mine to Farm A Finnish Immigrant Builds a Stable Wisconsin Farm
John Korpi of Bessemer township left 14 years of mine work in 1910 to farm 86 acres near the Geneva mine. He expanded land to 166 acres by 1921 and now runs 19 dairy cattle, a Guernsey bull, horses, and poultry. He built a modern home, conducts a milk delivery business, and keeps no debt. His family of eight supports and attends St. Pauls Finnish Lutheran church. He was born in Alavus Finland and came to America in 1896 after working at Iron Belt.
