Pioneer Samuel Peck Dies at 95 in Florida
The Marquette Mining Journal reports Samuel Peck died at Lake Maitland Florida on Friday of last week at age 95. Peck came to Marquette in 1856 to work with Jackson Iron company, helped haul first ore, ran a sawmill and tannery, and later managed Magnetic mining and Hungerford Iron. He remained energetic in old age, walking and composing letters, leaving a preserved will to memory of Marquette friends.
