Championship Barbershop Quartet To Present Varied Program
The Schmitt Brothers of Two Rivers Wisconsin a famed barber shop quartet will perform for the public Sunday at Christ The King parish Ramsay. The four brothers part of a 17 child family gained International fame by winning the 1951 international title in Toledo Ohio. They started in their family circle and sang in church choir later forming the five member Schmitt quartet. Tickets are available at Bessemer Pharmacy and Johnson Music Store Ironwood. The program includes 18 numbers ranging from classic lullabies to modern tunes with accompanying solos and ensembles.

Mining assessments cut Gogebic county values face fall

Axel Anderson Funeral Rites Held Wednesday
Funeral services for F. Axel Anderson a Bessemer pioneer were held Wednesday at 2 p m at Sharon Lutheran church. He died after months of ill health including a pneumonia two weeks earlier. Born in Koppersburg Sweden on March 15 1867 he came to Bes Semer in 1888 with early settlers. He worked for Oliver Iron Mining Co Colby and Puritan mines before retiring in 1942. He was a charter member of Sharon Lutheran church a Scandinavian lodge member and active in community affairs.
