In Bessemer township the spring election slate shrank to 34 after five candidates who had filed on the Democratic ticket withdrew. The names and offices pulled back were Hector Webber for clerk, Gabriel Jonson and Paul Ivonen for highway commissioner, Reino Salonen for highway overseer, and Iver Allen for park commissioner.

Charles Hemkes takes over the management of the crushing plant and related interests of the W. S. Peters estate at Wakefield. Joe Vukovich Accident Victim in Ramsay Death
Joseph Vukovich, 24, a former Bessemer High School tackle known as Smokey Joe, was struck by a train near Sibley Town and killed. He starred for Bessemer High in 1930-31 and played for the Bessemer Bearcats and Ironwood Polar Bears. His funeral will be Saturday at St Mary’s Church, Wakefield, conducted by Rev. Thomas Drengacz.
