The community mourns Marian Barlow 46 who died after a heart attack Monday night at Wakefield hospital. Born in Iron Belt in 1943, she moved to Anvil as a child, later served as Anvil postmaster, married Giles Barlow in 1925, and lived in Bessemer since. Survived by four sons Giles Thomas Richard Donald. two daughters Robin Peremsky and Roberta Rutus. father Samuel Braya Sr. brother Samuel Braya Jr. Active VFW auxiliary member and avid bowler with two league titles. Funeral at St Sebastian church Friday 9 a.m. Moore Funeral Home in Bessemer.

Mrs Niilo Latvala 49 Ramsay died last Wednesday in Lansing. Funeral services were held at Ketola Funeral Home Ironwood with Rev Jacob Hirvi. Born January 16 1901 in Kauririkka Vaasan Laani Finland she came to the United States in 1924. Survived by daughter Mrs Howard Nevala Ramsay son Aali Latvala Ypsilanti three sisters and two brothers. Hjalmer Uitto Found Dead In Bessemer Garage
Hjalmer Uitto, 48, was found dead Sunday morning beside a running automobile in his garage where he did auto repair work. Cause of death is monoxide poisoning. He was born January 27, 1902 in Bessemer and survived by his brother Theodore. Funeral services were held at C. W. Moore funeral home with Rev. Arnold Stadius officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest cemetery.

Business Women Hold Hobo Party and Prizes
The Business and Professional Women's club hosted a Hobo themed gathering last Monday night. Isabelle Menghi won best original costume while Marjorie Mascotti took funniest outfit. Runner ups were Becky Gray and Lucille Olson. Prizes went to Mary Louise Hoffner for most attractive look and Christine Smetana and Becky Gray for original ideas. Smetana packed lunch in a red handkerchief and Gray used a box car style container. At the meeting, donations to Boy Scouts March of Dimes and Salvation Army were authorized.

Former Bessemer Resident Jennie Larson Dies in Chicago
Miss Jennie Larson, longtime Bessemer native, died yesterday in Chicago after a lingering illness at age 60. Born December 21, 1889, she was daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Swan Larson. She attended Bessemer High School class of 1908, worked for S Goldman Co then studied at a Chicago business college in 1918, later employed at Merchandise Mart. Active in Sharon Lutheran Church and local civic groups, she is survived by brothers William A Larson and Arthur G Larson, both of Chicago. Funeral arrangements set for Saturday at J J Frick funeral home with services at 2 p m conducted by Rev F E W Eastman.

Thirty five women rode a chartered bus to Ironwood for a joint Eagles Auxiliary meeting with the Ironwood and Bessemer chapters. Fifteen new members were initiated into the Bessemer auxiliary led by Mrs. Jean Kellett, with Mrs. Anne Shaw attending. Memorial Foundation talks and fund drives for World War II orphans were highlighted, and a luncheon for 110 members featured George Washington decor and corsages for honored guests.
