Mitchell Development shifts control to Copper Country board
Stockholders of Mitchell Development elect a new board of managers without opposition and relocate management to the copper country. The plan calls for sinking the shaft about 350 feet deeper to total around teo feet, with drilling to assess the property at a projected cost near 30 000. The new board includes Charles Smith, W A Bateman, John R Ryan, Joseph Vertin, Chas Lean, John Holman, James Clancy, John McEncree, and William Haggerton. Heavy Ore Sales Forecast for 1905 Season in Lake Superior
The Duluth News-Tribune predicts a heavy 1905 ore sales season for Lake Superior producers. Mesaba range ore leads demand with most orders placed. the Joseph Sellwood mines, including Brotherton and Sunday Lake on Gogebic, contract to sell all yearly output. Sellwood group mined about 500,000 tons in 1904 and projects ~1,500,000 tons in 1905. The Croxton mine will be active after idle 1904. International Harvester mines, run by Joseph Sellwood, shipped 200,000 tons from Minnesota and 59,000 tons from Baraboo.
