L. P. Johnson, Ironwood pioneer and founder of Salem Lutheran church, died Saturday evening from heart disease at age 73. He settled in Ironwood in 1886 and in earlier days served both Ironwood and Bessemer Lutheran churches as a lay preacher.

Mrs. Mary Tubbs, 80, died early Monday at her daughter Mrs. Peter Westin's Ironton home. She had moved here from Florence, Wisconsin last summer. The body was shipped to Florence where funeral services were held Wednesday.

Two Die In Northwest Train Collision Near Monico Wis
Two Chicago and Northwestern trains collided near Monico Wisconsin last Thursday night. Fireman Dan Jones and engineer George Steber, both Antigo residents, died. Fifteen others were injured as both locomotives derailed in 2 below temperatures with three feet of snow. A special train later carried the injured to Antigo hospital.
