Voters to cast primary ballots in Bessemer Monday
In Bessemer and Bessemer Township voters will cast primary ballots Monday February 18 1957. The mayoral race features Charles Mascotti Elmer Sandin and Anton Jakovich with the top two advancing. Township offices also see multiple candidates for supervisor treasurer clerk and board seats. A nonpartisan circuit judge primary in Gogebic and Ontonagon counties also takes place with six candidates on one ballot. Seger Mr and Mrs William Rice return from Jackson after funeral services for Mrs Rice's brother Oscar Sissala who was fatally injured in a Jackson traffic accident.

Last Rites Held For Victor Nygard
Funeral services were held last Tuesday for Victor Nygard of Puritan who died Sunday at his home from a heart seizure. Rev. Mark Wickstrom officiated at Sharon Lutheran Church at 2 p m. Burial followed in Hillcrest cemetery with pallbearers John Korpi Eric Michaelson Oscar Faline Everett Mattson Carl Anderson and Eric Anderson. Out of town mourners included families from Elmwood Park Chicago Burnell Ironwood Waukegan Saxon Conover and Saxon Wisconsin and other range communities.

Captain Roger L Cerioni of Bessemer Michigan recently completed two weeks of active duty at the Army Antiaircraft Command headquarters in Colorado Springs. He is a World War II veteran and attended George Washington University in Washington DC. His wife Patricia resides in Colorado Springs.

Seven year old hit by car on Gold Street
Little Robert Harcarik, seven, son of Mr and Mrs Albert Harcarik of 308 North Clayberg Street, was critically injured Thursday February 7 when struck at the Gold Street intersection by a car driven by Walter Ramsay. The sled rider was thrown under the car and suffered a skull fracture. He was taken to Grand View Hospital and later to St Luke's in Duluth for further care.

Mrs Benjamin Brockbank a Ramsay matron aged 79 died Friday at 2 30 PM at Grand View Hospital. Born April 7 184? in Millom Cumberland England she married Benjamin Brockbank in Cumberland March 1893. They moved to Bes semer in 166 and later to Ramsar Colby Hill before 1911. Survivors include her husband one son William three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
