Death of A W Lanala in Bessemer Suicide Shot
Arnold W. Lanala aged 37 died from a self inflicted gun shot wound in his Moore street home. Coroner C W Moore Jr and Bessemer police say death occurred about 12:30 Saturday morning. He was born in Oskar near Houghton and had worked at Flint and Isle Royale copper. survived by wife Edith Somero four sons and several relatives. Funeral services were held in Houghton.

Gas Line Route Considered for Alberta to Montreal Pipeline
Michigan business leaders push two route options for a Alberta to eastern Canada natural gas pipeline. The northern path Edmonton to Sudbury via Port Arthur would be longer and less favorable. A southern Superior route via Winnipeg Ashland Ironwood Bessemer Wakefield Ishpeming and Sault Ste. Marie is favored for higher revenue and industrial gas supply. Construction costs estimated around 275 million dollars with Alberta to review in March. Endicott Lovell of Calumet & Hecla touted gas as key to expanding copper mining if available.

Al Humble aged 77 a Bessemer pioneer died at his Minneapolis home. He came to Bessemer at age 12 with his parents the Humble family from Braidwood Illinois. He married Anna Coad of Bessemer. Survived by son Clarence an attorney at Claremont Falls Oregon and two step brothers George Humble Sterns Kentucky and Justice Humble Bay Pines Florida.
