John M. Slivensky aged 55 a former resident died at a Pontiac hospital on Monday January 27 He was born May 5 1913 in Bessemer and married Mildred Castle July 25 1941 in Allen Park Michigan He worked at General Motors Fisher Body Division in Pontiac He is survived by his wife a son Raymond Slivensky two daughters Mrs Lee H Brown and Carol Slivensky and a sister Ann Kosteilo of Bessemer Funeral services were held January 39 at Millington with interment in Millington Township Cemetery

Ojibway crew to cut deer browse in Ottawa National Forest
Ojibway Civilian Conservation Center corps men will cut strips of trees and shrubs along yarding areas in the Ottawa National Forest to ease deer browse shortages. Michigan DNR personnel will parallel efforts near additional yarding zones to sustain deer through the next six to eight weeks.

Mrs. Mary Semmerling 96 Dies at Gogebic Medical Center
Mary Semmerling nee Wozniak, 96, of 108 E Colby St, died Monday after a lengthy illness at Gogebic Medical Center Wakefield. Born Nov 1 1872 in Rogowa Poland she settled in Gogebic County with her husband August Semmerling in 1889. She leaves eight children, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral at St Sebastian Catholic Church with burial at Hulcrest Cemetery. Also notes a guest artist event for the Bessemer Business and Professional Women's Club on Feb 17 with entertainment and lunch.
