Bessemer Pioneer Massie Dies at Home
Napoleon D Massie 83 one of Bessemer s earliest settlers died at his home Saturday morning after a brief illness He was born in Sainte Sauvaure Quebec in 1855 and came to the United States in 1878 He helped found Massie and Morse a lumber firm that sold tens of thousands of cords of wood He is survived by six children and twelve grandchildren and was active in Odd Fellows Elks and the local volunteer fire department Funeral services were conducted at St Sebastian church with burial in Hillrest cemetery.

Jacob W. Jacobson 77 died Wednesday night at 8 40 at Wakefield hospital from infirmities. Born Waterford Wisconsin November 13 1862 he came to Bessemer in 1889 and lived there until 1908 when he moved to Wakefield where he has resided ever since.

Mrs John Minkin Dies After Illness in Grand View Hospital
Mrs John Minkin, 75, died Monday morning at Grand View hospital after a period of illness. Born in Finland, she had lived in the area for over 40 years. Survived by five sons John and Alex of Ironwood, Waino and Herbert of Bessemer township, and William of Asta bula, Ohio, plus several grandchildren. Her husband died about ten years ago.

Judgment Favors Local Bank In Circuit Court
The Bessemer National Bank won in circuit court as Judge James E. O'Neill ruled Murphy of Ironwood failed to show a cause of action. Murphy claimed bonds were sold too cheaply for 815.30 vs par 3000, with proceeds applied to a note. The court found no negligence by the bank and that Murphy knew of the pledge agreement.

Yale Location Resident Dies After Long Illness
John Guzzo 61 a Yale location resident died Monday at Grand View hospital after a seven month hospitalization for a lingering illness. Born in Italy July 20 1878 he lived in the community 383 years and worked as a miner. Survived by widow three daughters two sons and four grandchildren including Mrs Finco Davis location Mrs Selin Bessemer Mamie at home Frank Yale location and James at home with brothers Peter California and James Chicago. Funeral services were held Thursday at St Sebastian church at 9 oclock.
