George E. Bishop of the Upper Peninsula Development Bureau and Frank Blakely of the West Michigan Tourist and Resort Association will lead a February 15 three week cooperative publicity tour to Florida. Michigan representatives will showcase attractions through speaking, film, and literature to Florida hotel guests and Florida papers, seeking to attract summer visitors to the Upper Peninsula.

Norway project adds 72000 acres to state wilderness
The Michigan state conservation commission created the Norway project in the Upper Peninsula northeast of Lion Mountain. The 72000 acres will be managed as a wilderness area with minimal road work to preserve its character while improving state ownership and access. Deer, grouse, snowshoe hares and browsing are noted, with strong support from local sportsmen associations. Boundaries are M-69, county road 569, US-2 and M-95, and the area lies 12 miles from the Escanaba River tract.

State Sells 1000 Pelts For 2192 At Public Auction
Approximately 190 pelts turned in by bounty hunters and violators were converted into cash for Michigan conservation. The auction by the Department of Conservation sold 456 coyotes 114 bobcats 248 muskrats and other furs including beaver skunk opossum weasel raccoon for 2152.60. High bidder was B Milstein of East Jordan. Receipts go to the state game protection fund to support conservation activities.

Walter Trasek killed by falling tree near Gogebic Station
Paneras services were held Wednesday at St Sebastian church for Walter Trasek who died last Thursday when a tree fell at the Bonifas Lumber camp north of Gogebic Station. Reverend C J Swobmia conducted the rites and interment was in the local cemetery. Trasek was single and survived by a sister Mrs Rosa Bolinska of Pinkees Wille.
