Fall proves fatal to Ed Winkowski
Edward Winkowski 61 of Bessemer died instantly at 11 15 am Monday after falling from the roof of his two story home at 109 East Liver Street while clearing ice and snow. He was born September 13 1883 in Clinton Ohio and lived in Bessemer most of his life. Surviving are his wife Leocadia Slomkowski and four children Edward Navid Leonard and Lonette plus three grandchildren and several siblings. Funeral services were held this morning at St Sebastian’s Church with burial at Hillcrest cemetery.

Pessemer Pioneer Frank Costantino Dies at 66
Frank Costantino, 66, of Bessemer, died February 1 at Grand View Hospital after five weeks of illness. Born January 11, 1879 in Rivarolo Italy, he came to the United States young and settled in Bessemer 45 years ago. He was married in 1911 and worked for Oliver Iron Mining Co. Surviving wife, son Charles, daughter Irene Pricco, and brothers James in Bessemer and Peter in Italy. Funeral Monday at St. Sebastian's Church with interment at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Funeral Rites Held For Charles Torni
Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon for Charles G. Torni who died Monday at his home. The Rev Jaob Hirvi of St Mark's Lutheran church officiated with Mrs Emil Kelto singing two hymns. Alfred Laakso spoke on behalf of the Temperance society in which Torni was active. Pallbearers were Emil Kelto Albert Eastman John Maunu Gust Winikka and Matt Haanpaa at Hillcrest cemetery.

Debaters Win In Duluth Saturday
High school debaters from the local school won six of eight events at the Superior District National For ensic league contest held last Saturday at Denfield high school in Duluth. The affirmative team of John Nolan Natalie Mattson Joyce Creager beat Duluth Central Superior high school and Spooner and lost to Denfield. The negative team Dorothy Turpeinen and Larry Martin defeated Superior Duluth Central and Greenway and lost to Denfield high school.

Corporal Andrew Pusakulich of Ramsay Michigan and ground specialists in a B 29 unit in the Marianas earned a special commendation from Brigadier General HS Hansell Jr Commanding General XXI Bomber Command. Body Of Simmons Found At Lake Gogebic
Charles Simmons a 68 year old pen sioner missing since October 15 was found dead Tuesday night by Alvin Forslund. State police ruled death by self harm with no evidence of foul play. He had lived in Gogebic County for over 50 years and worked as a logging teamster for J. E. McNicholas at Marenisco. He had no known relatives.
