Bessemer township will have two tickets in the February 19 primary, Democratic and Citizens. A total of 51 candidates filed, up from 39 last year, with detailed filings for Supervisor, Clerk, Treasurer, Justice of Peace, Highway Commissioner, Board of Review, Park Commission, and Constable across multiple precincts. Two Gogebic county supervisors will not seek re election, Wakefield and Ironwood townships list new and incumbent candidates, while 37 candidates ran in this year’s primary, a drop from 52 last year, with most action focused on the Citizens slate and Liberty candidates limited to one alderman race.
