Suit Against Derham Dismissed By Court
The federal suit filed by Martha Danculovic against State Senator Ray Derham of Iron Mountain was dismissed by Judge Fred M. Raymond in Marquette. Danculovic, age 26 and claiming Ohio residence, sought $25,000 for seduction, paternity, and broken marriage promises, after filing October 16 in Marquette federal court.

Two Bad Fires Visit Ironwood In Harsh Week
Ironwood endured two major blazes this week causing about 50 000 in losses. The Ironwood Times building suffered 30 000 damage, blamed on a defective chimney, with firefighters battling 10 degree below zero conditions. The Albert Stenstrom family on the second floor was rescued. A second fire destroyed Ironwood city garage on Lake street, wiping out 20 000 in trucks tractors and city equipment. Ironwood has suffered four severe fires this winter, dating back to earlier incidents at O Donnell Seamen Department store Ladin building and other downtown sites.

Wakefield Hosts CCC Jamboree for 1500 on Saturday
Wakefield will entertain 1,500 CCC men from eight camps on Saturday February 3 for a Roosevelt birthday anniversary event. President Roosevelt Birthday Balls Draw 300 At Dances
More than 150 couples attended the Eagles and Elks hosted Birthday Balls in honor of President Roosevelt. Proceeds, about 50 dollars, will go to the Warm Springs foundation in Georgia for infantile paralysis. Dancing paused during Roosevelt’s address on the national radio. Despite bad weather, the event drew 300 or more attendees for an entertaining evening.

Nicholas Murphy age 69 longtime Watersmeet resident died Tuesday morning at Grand View hospital after a brief illness of pneumonia. Guilty Pleas in Ontonagon Circuit Court Tests Law
Six persons pleaded guilty in Ontonagon circuit court before Judge George Driscoll. Peter Pukkinen found criminally insane and ordered to Ionia State Hospital. Hilma and Jonas Tasanen and August Tundari pleaded guilty to unlawful burning of Hilma Tasanen home with sentences including Mrs. Tasanen to one to 10 years. Jonas 90 days, Tundari suspended and on three years probation. Delgatto and Colon pleaded guilty to unlawful taking of an automobile. Delgatto six months to five years, Colon 30 days. Carter pleaded guilty to embezzlement of 250 dollars, six months to five years.

Captain Ball to Leave Michigan Tech for Fort DuPont
