An 800 line passenger train struck a loaded box car left on the main switch at Ironwood yards last Monday. Express Messenger McAuliffe suffered a broken shoulder, thrown across the car, and the train was halted about four hours as a result. He was treated locally and sent home to Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
An advertisement promises a free sample of Chamberlain's Stomach and Liver Tablets in Des Moines Iowa. Send one cent via postal card with name and address on the back and the company will forward the sample. Sold by Chas H Warner.
The Ladies Aid Society of the M. E. church plans a birthday party at the burgh parsonage on Friday evening. Guests will place a set number of cents in three bags equal to their ages, with promise of not disclosing anyone’s age.
A fine line of Bavarian and German hand painted chinaware and other china items offered for Christmas gifts at Jensen and Lintleman.
From Becanaba comes a sparrow tale of boys who allegedly soak bread with whiskey to intoxicate the birds. The state pays two cents per sparrow, and hunters reportedly bag intoxicated birds, though exact counts are not reported.

A railroad expert says severe weather farther south, not the upper peninsula, caused train delays. He notes Chicago and Wisconsin regions faced harsh conditions while the peninsula enjoyed mild spells, and northern rail lines pushed to meet tight mail contracts amid frequent late trains and unreliable schedules.
The Thirty Second Judicial Circuit in Chancery issues an order in Gngebie County for Frances Semowski, a Minnesota resident, to appear within two months and answer the complaint. Publication of the order in Bessemer Herald is required weekly, with service deadlines noted, and failure to comply may result in default.
John T. Wicks a longtime city resident died at home Wednesday from inflammatory rheumatism at age 58. He had worked as an electrician at the Tilden mine and led a Sunday School at the M E Church. Survived by his wife five sisters and one brother the funeral is planned for Iron Mountain with services by Rev Fdw Bickford and Rev Carlyon.
Mrs. John T. Wicks extends gratitude to friends and neighbors for assistance during illness and burial of her husband. She thanks everyone for floral offerings and kind support.

Rev and Mrs Pasmore of Ortonville Michigan arrived Thursday to attend John T Wicks funeral. Mr and Mrs Captain Morgan of Duluth attend the funeral services for John Wicks Saturday. L H Truettner and Wm Waters are giving out fine calendars this week.
