Local farmer Matt Golomsky dies after long illness
Matt Golomsky, caretaker at the Alex Cychosz farm in Marenisco, died Monday after a lingering illness. Born February 14, 1871 in Germany, he had lived in Marenisco township 38 years and previously in Stevens Point. Survived by a sister in Rashold and two brothers in Stevens Point. body sent to Stevens Point for burial.

ROTC Officers Announced Friday At High School Assembly
Major James Richardson announced the A D Johnston ROTC unit appointments at the Friday assembly. Richard Ossana was named cadet captain and company commander, with LeRoy Margetta and Bernard MichelI as executive officer and platoon leader respectively. Cadet officers include Eugene Giuliani and Donald Skwer as lieutenants, Llewellyn Hansen as SSO, and numerous sergeants and staff ranks listed with specific duties. Ossana received the gold ROTC medal. Charles DeMarte earned the silver for outstanding military proficiency.

Death notice for Francis V. Popko of Bessemer, who died at his Azusa California home. Born October 10, 1915, he attended St Sebastian and A D Johnston high schools, served in Army intelligence on the west coast after enlisting in 1941. Survivors include his wife and son Christopher, his father Sigismund Popko, seven sisters and one brother including Sister Theodolinde, Sister Mary Carlita, Clothilde, and Leo Popko.

Last Rites Held For Bertha Ceno
Miss Bertha Ceno aged 37 died last Thursday at St Josephs hospital Ashland. The Rev C J Swoboda officiated the requiem high Mass at St Sebastian church at 9. Interment followed at Hillcrest cemetery. Pallbearers were Anton Eppolite Paul Contratto Jr John Marchello Jr George Pricco Lawrence Michela and Arthur Stancher. Out of town relatives included Mrs Dan Lampe of Chicago and Miss Emma Zarda of Tomahawk Lake Wisconsin.

Two Obituaries and a Wedding Highlight Duluth News
Funeral services were held in Chicago for Alex Bukalis a 65 year old Greece born resident who died in Duluth after a brief illness. He lived in Bessemer thirty years worked a Kalasavicz building restaurant and later as a railroad watchman. He was unmarried and survived only by his nephew John Kanellas of Chicago. A separate wedding at Trinity Lutheran Church united Lorraine Ruth Maki and Tuulo Ulvinen with a candlelit ceremony and 20 relative guests. The reception drew about 200 guests at the Will Ann hotel as Mr Ulvinen nears residence at the Will Ann after a Detroit stint and prior Bessemer ties. Local lodge officers were elected for next year in a Bessemer Runeburg meeting. Merry Xmas Drive message appended.
