One hundred fifty one friends and admirers of Ralph Heikkinen gathered in Ironwood for a turkey banquet honoring the Ramsay Bessemer graduate and Michigan All American guard. Bernard Larson and local officials spoke as Heikkinen’s football prowess and scholarship were praised. Heikkinen, named to the first American Football All American by Grantland Rice, will be principal speaker at Gogebic area players banquet on January 20 in Ironwood.

J R Johnson 84 dies at Grand View Hospital after heart trouble and pneumonia. Born March 21 1881 in Dalskog Sweden he ran a hardware and furniture store on Main Street for 44 years and survived by a widow, five children, a son in Clark Wyoming and four grandchildren. Funeral plans not yet set. Also Joseph W Pecard Clem? Pecard dies at home on Longyear Street after a heart attack. Born July 30 in Bessemer he lived here most of his life, worked in groceries, auto business and service stations, and held offices in Elks Knights of Columbus and Lions. Survived by wife May Krafft, three children, mother, two sisters and a brother. Funeral at St Sebastian’s Church.
