Laws Of Snowmobile Use In State Public Act 74
The act requires registration of most snowmobiles starting Jan 1 1969 with a pocket certificate of registration. Each snowmobile must display a three inch high number on the forward half. Initial certificates expire Dec 31 1971 with three year renewals. Dealers must insure and vet operators. Snowmobiles may cross highways only under specified conditions and may operate on certain roads during emergencies or special events. Vehicles require lights and brakes and must avoid prohibited areas and speeds. Violations are misdemeanors and local ordinances must meet act minimums.

Death of John Merigian after motorcycle mishap
John Merigian 20 of Detroit and former Wakefield resident died from injuries after a motorcycle crash November 27 in Infornie while stationed with the US Navy. He was survived by his parents Mrs and Mrs John Merigian and his sister Suzanne of Detroit. his mother was the former Sarah Phrone of Wakefield. Funeral services were held in Detroit.
