Bogdan Obituary of Mrs S B Bogdan
Mrs S B Bogdan of Lden died Sunday morning after a nine month illness. Born in Poland October 17, 1894 she came to the United States in 1912 and settled in St Paul Minnesota before moving to Bessemer nine years ago. Survived by husband Stanley Bogdan six children and a sister. She was a member of St. Sebastian church and the Polish urban club.

Presbyterian Guild Rummage Sale Set for Sept 11
The Mission Guild of the Presbyterian church of Bessemer will hold a rummage sale on September 11 in the Gust Ekman building on Sophie Street. Coffee and cake will be served beginning at 10 a.m. Donations may be made by calling Mrs. Lucille before noon Friday, September 10, and pickup can be arranged. William Mannisto, recovering from a leg injury, attended a “cheer up” party at the Veterans Memorial Building, where about 200 people gathered. Saima Koro of Ironwood gave readings, Adla Marie Anderson and En Jean Gustafson performed flute and piano duets, and refreshes were served by hosts. The fete was organized by Hilmer Nyman, Mr. and Mrs. Emer Jarvi, and Mr. and Mrs. An Modjewsky.

Swedes Defeat Wops 15-9 In Diamond Battle
In a heated Massie Field game on Wednesday night the Swedes beat the Wops 15-9. Chickie Gustafson starred for the Lutefish eaters with strong fielding and hitting while Johnny Marchello shone for the Wops at short and second. A return match is being planned by Geno and Skelly for PTA milk fund. Mr and Mrs David Berkovitz welcomed a daughter born at Wakefield hospital on August 19.

Mrs. Mary Gerich Dies After Brief Illness
Mrs. Mary Gerich aged 75, a pioneer resident of South Bessemer since 1888, died Saturday morning after a brief illness. Born Mary Fabian in Yugoslavia February 2, 1873, she married Paul Gerich and lived at Colby before moving to South Bessemer in 1919. Surviving are a daughter, three sons, four grandchildren, one great grandchild, two sisters, and a brother. Funeral was held Wednesday at St. Sebastian church, with burial in Hillcrest cemetery. Pallbearers included John and Paul Gerich and other relatives. Out-of-town attendees noted.

Local Couple Celebrate Golden Wedding Anniversary
Local couple Mr. and Mrs. Michael Relich marked their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a high Mass at St. Sebastian church in Bessember. The ceremony featured vows read by Rev. C. J. Swoboda and decorations of yellow gladioli. A breakfast for 40 followed at the American Legion rooms and a reception for about 200 at the Legion building. The Relichs, married in Ironwood on August 21, 1898, have five children and seven grandchildren with four great grandchildren.

John Mayer Dies Saturday
John Mayer 76 died Friday at 9 05 p m at his home 508 East Iron Street after a heart ailment. Born June 7 1872 in German Austria he immigrated with family in 1887 to the United States. Surviving are his widow a son Leonard Mayer two daughters Isabelle Nemacheck and Eli Nicholas four grandchildren one great grandchild a brother five sisters and several in laws. Services Monday at St Sebastian Catholic Church with burial in Hillcrest cemetery.
