Lord Fires Back Reply to Local Man's Argument
George Lord, head of the state tax department, responds to John Holland’s August 7 remarks in the Herald. He accuses Holland of political motives and defends the department’s valuations, noting mining properties have been assessed distinctly and that local officials sometimes overshoot general valuations. He cites balancing adjustments for farmers in financial distress and asserts taxation is set to cash value across classes.
