First Cast of Pioneer Furnace at Marquette Opens Successfully
The Pioneer Iron Company's new furnace at Marquette began last week with the first cast after an 18 hour charge. Miss Beatrice Hanscom lit the stack with a decorated torch, and about 100 people witnessed the event. Austin Farrell of Cleveland Cliffs supervised operations, reporting a smooth test and planning regular future casts.
