Dr A W Colberg of Wakefield was unanimously named chairman for the coming year at the Gogebic county board organization meeting held Tuesday. Three new supervisors Eino Heikkinen Edward Olson and Clifford Trethewey were seated. Two new deputies Anton Munari and George Kronberg added to the sheriff’s department. The board seeks 12000 from the state defense council to cover meeting costs mileage costs and new sheriff’s office equipment. Salary increase from 50 to 75 monthly for county infirmary matron nurse Mrs George Abraham approved.

Four Michigan Bell Operators Citations For Heroic Service
Four Michigan Bell telephone operators were honored Thursday by the Michigan Vail Committee of Award for noteworthy public service while on duty in 1941. Miss Mary Deidelbohr of Wyandotte received an individual certificate for directing police to a carbon monoxide incident where three people were revived at hospital. Miss Ruth Knudson of Royal Oak and supervisor Mrs. Helen Blaske shared a joint citation for responding to a New Year’s Eve hold up at a filling station and aiding the beaten attendant. Mrs. Mildred M. Todd of Big Beaver received a citation for aiding a rural home emergency when a caller concealed the name of a badly injured woman, prompting a doctor’s visit and subsequent rescue.

The 50 member Michigan Tech ROTC regimental band led by Franz Schubert and Robert Racine will give a concert at Bessemer High School Friday April 24 at 1 15 PM Arrangements are through Superintendent E J Oas. The program includes marches semi classical numbers and dance tunes with a trumpet trio of Clair Donovan David Anthony and Robert Eddy. Bessemer is the sixth stop on a tour that started at Baraga and L Anse and included Crystal Falls Stambaugh Iron River Ironwood and Harney. Karl E. Kesti, 16, of Erwin township, was sentenced in probate court by Judge M. E. Nolan to the boys industrial school in Lansing until age 21 or release. He faced negligent homicide and related charges for a March 31 crash that killed Mr. and Mrs. Carl Ohman near Ironwood. Kesti’s companions, Raymond Aho Bruno Mattila and Reino Suirila, were bound over to circuit court on aiding and abetting charges.

Three Youths Nabbed After Escape From Wisconsin Camp
Three youths aged 15 16 and 17 escaped from the Honor camp at Eagle River Wisconsin were captured by Sheriff Pertile near Marenisco. They had been inmates of the Wisconsin Industrial School at Waukesha. Pertile was called to Watersmeet to investigate a break in at the Loveless gas station. Permits Granted to 24 Licensees in Bessemer
