Veterans prepare a final mass meet and parade this Sunday afternoon to push a last bonus effort amid organized rallying. The event centers on veteran advocacy groups coordinating speakers and activities to attract public attention and support.
Bessemer servicemen prepare for Sunday demonstration and mass meeting at Rex theatre to back the state bonus amendment. Local voters will be urged to approve the amendment at Monday’s election, with state and legion officials addressing crowds and outlining the proposed plan to pay $15 per month of service.
Lansing reports plan to split Ontonagon and add Berg land area to Gogebic county. Representative John Holland proposed the change amid bonding disputes. The eight hour bill fell 85 to 8 in the Michigan House with two amendments rejected.

The Bessemer Community Club plans its third luncheon at Terrell's noon Tuesday with high turnout expected after two successful prior events. President Frank W. Rome hopes Ironwood Mayor O'Neil speaks, but election timing seems to block that. Members to notify Secretary H. J. Hansen for attendance. Separately, Business Men's Volleyball opens with Blues vs Reds and Greens vs Blacks and schedule runs through May as league interest grows.
The final adjournment of the legislature is fixed for Friday April 29 with May 19 as the legal close after an interim period. The plan, moved by Rep G Oliver Frick, shifted dates earlier from April 14 and May 3 to allow time for remaining work. The 1919 session adjourned April 25 with a legal end May 15, and the first date marks actual adjournment as members head home.
Stenback's Champs beat Frank's Sharks of Ironwood 200 to 173 at Joose's billiard hall Thursday. T Korhonen led with a 28 high run. Ironwood led earlier in last week's match. Next Tuesday Hurley Sharks meet Stenback's champs at Joose's.
A farm accounting school was held in the courthouse this morning for local farmers with Prof H M Eliot of Michigan Agricultural College and County Agent C E Gunderson in charge. A similar session was held yesterday in Ironwood. Topics covered included benefits of farm accounting, farming shortcuts, time spent on keeping accounts, and common difficulties. A large audience attended.
In March at Joose's billiard hall a high run contest was won by C. Korhonen with 38, second Isdebski 37, third Salo 35, fourth Stenback 34, and fifth J. Korhonen 32.
Reported 15 percent wage cut at Yale mine took effect April 1 as Supt W E McPrandle announced. Earlier in winter a 20 percent water cut had been made. Circulated rumors of mine curtailment in the city proved unfounded. Castile Mining may Toledo suspend work until ore market improves. Plymouth mine to resume Monday with only one shovel for stripping.

Three state specialists J A Waldron G W Putnam and A G Kettunen will speak alongside County Agent C E Gunderson and Dr E F Moran. A Victor Anomatograph will project images of development as meetings run through the week in various communities including a Bessemer session at the courthouse on Thursday at 2 p m with talks on crops feeding and breeding practices.
Special meeting of the Girls Community club in the high school Wednesday at 7 30 p m to re elect a president. All members are urged to attend.

City water reserves exceed 3 million gallons with potential to reach 5 million this summer. The Carlson's bluff 1,000,000 gallon tank and the 200,000 gallon Tilden hill tank have both been overflowing this week due to ample spring supply from Cox's farm.
