Bethel Church Plans June 16 Services In Jefferson Township

Weather warm and pleasant as Bethel hosts preaching by W F Johnson C E on Sunday June 16 at 7 30 and 8 00 p m. A Sunday program includes Children Day entertainment. attendance invited. Family news notes Gust Linne visited Ohio. Mr and Mrs Edward Bollenbaugh welcome a newborn son. Several locals attend speeches in Decatur and DePauw area and road improvements continue in the community.

Local residents report small community changes and visits

Ted, Roy Lewis did the work. There will be changes in our telephone lines soon. George Fravel moved his saw mill home and will plant corn before leaving again. J W Barr erected a new fence in front of his house to improve looks. A M Augburn has a very sick child with lung fever attended by a Geneva doctor. Elroy Runyon of Linn Grove visited relatives here over the weekend. he has been teaching at Troy. N W R Mann and family visited relatives in Jay County last Sunday. Grace Burley went to Fort Wayne this week and will join a lakes trip with a family from there. Charles Pyle and family and J H Orndorff and wife visited Augburns last Sunday. Burley and Virginia Pyle visited at Lorin Carrs last Sunday after church. Burley Buckmaster began work in Berne on Water Street Pike. Carpenters began work on John Buchers new barn last Monday and will soon raise it. Dr Starkweather of Decatur bought the Bowers Realty Co. farm known as the Rape farm on the pike west of North Point church.

Children’s Day at Pleasant Valley M P Church

Spring Hill residents attended the Children's Day program at Pleasant Valley M P Church last Sunday evening. Rev J W Anderson gave an engaging talk to local children. A foreign missions collection totaled nearly $3. Mr and Mrs Jacob Huser and Mrs Albert Huser with two children visited Adrian Hawk's family. Eliza Cook and family visited Paul McClain. Vance Mattax visited his uncle Davidson Matta in Blue Creek township. Geo McGill of Decatur visited his uncle G W Gates.

Merriman trip to Sidney and local church events at Salem

Mr and Mrs Elisha Merriman left yesterday for Sidney Ohio to attend a reunion and visit relatives. News of the death of Frank Porter saddened the Salem area while Flo previously ran a drug business at Parker City. Children’s exercises at the Salem church drew a full house with attendees from Elgin Decatur St Wayne and Portland.
