Berkshire Hills Considers Aid Delay Over Pupils Rule
Supt. Paul J. McDonald told the Southern Berkshire Regional School Committee he will seek a legislative reprieve from the state Board of Education directive that districts must have at least 2,000 pupils by December 31, 1970. The region has 1,331 students and must decide how to meet the requirement by year’s end, possibly by partnering with the Berkshire Hills Regional School District for incorporation. Failure to comply would jeopardize construction aid.
