School Committee Plans Bring Clash Over Roles
Dalton secretary Robert A Johnson urged the Selectmen to merge the Finance Committee education subcommittee with the newly named Selectmen's Advisory Committee on Schools to avoid duplicating work on the budget. The advisory panel aims to gather diverse opinions and may handle issues beyond schools. The dispute echoes the 3.7 million regional school building proposal last May, which the Finance Committee supported 9-4 but the Selectmen opposed as a tax burden.
