A roll of community happenings lists fundraisers and dances across Berkshire venues. Activities include a book sale at Big N Shopping Plaza benefiting Berkshire Community College, square dances at South Congo Congregational Church and Hinsdale Kittredge School, a dance concert at Adams Memorial Theatre, and a lecture on Allagash County at Berkshire Museum, with times ranging from morning to late evening.

Mrs Rand E Ericson announces the October clothing collection to aid hurricane victims. The drive runs until Oct 19 and follows Church World Service aid of 20000 blankets and 40 bales of children’s clothing. Gift certificates can be bought from Church Women United and sent to Mrs Ericson. donations drop at Mrs Ericson or Mrs Ralph R Johnson in Dalton, the Masonic Temple in North Adams, or the First Congregational Church in Great Barrington.
The Morningside Baptist Church will sponsor a turkey supper tomorrow in the church hall to benefit the Second Congregational Church building fund. Sittings are at 5 and 6 30 with reservations by calling Mrs Alexander Leslie in the Hillcrest Hospital Auxiliary lobby tomorrow from 10 am to 2 pm.
The VFW Auxiliary volunteers visited Edgewood Nursing Home Lenox and Albany Veterans Hospital to cheer patients. Mrs Raymond Wermanski and Mrs Edward Dubiski arranged refreshments for residents. Leroy E Bosworth district commander and Francis J LeBlanc joined the Albany visit.
