Bushy Haircuts Pondered for Negro Marines
CAMP PENDLETON Calif AP The Marine Corps debated allowing Afro haircuts for Black Marines. Willie Lee Morrow, a Negro barber, demonstrated four styles in 10 to 12 minutes each for Marines and photographers, with headgear tested on moon-molded hair. The photos remain private. Gen. Leonard I Chapman Jr had granted limited Afro cuts to reduce racial friction, banning sideburns and eccentric styles.
