Capitol Rites May Save Self Rule Bill

Washington AP reports a plan of concessions and a possible first religious ceremony in the Capitol to win votes for self rule for Washington, with the House set to take up the bill Monday on Rosh Hashanah. Johnson Acts To Save Species Of Wildlife

President Johnson approves a 300 acre Patuxent Wildlife Research Center site in Laurel Maryland. Biologists will breed raise and release rare birds and mammals including the snail hawk white fronted goose black footed ferret and whooping crane to bolster their numbers and survival chances. A whooping crane injured in Canada will be among the first arrivals.
