UPI reports U.S. District Judge James F. Gordon dismissed a $2 million libel suit by former Maj. Gen. Edwin Walker against the Courier Journal Louisville Times and WHAS Inc. The ruling follows Sullivan v New York Times Co establishing actual malice as a requirement for public officials. The judge noted Walker was not a public official at the time.

The Air Line Pilots Association said a UPI report shows a grievance ruling could stop airlines from grounding married stewardesses. Betty Green of Dallas, a Braniff hostess, was fired on November 12, 1964, after marrying February 3, 1963. A neutral arbitrator later ordered her reinstated with seniority.
