Nursing Home Federation backs most legislative report

The Massachusetts Federation of Nursing Homes endorsed 26 of 30 recommendations from the Special Legislative Commission on nursing homes at a State House hearing. Edward F. Connelly urged an advisory council in the Department of Public Health and supported a three man board to set payments for public aided patients to reduce legal confusion. He opposed adding more inspectors, noting 16 inspectors cover 1,200 homes and 300 hospitals. He criticized the commission for copying New York City codes and highlighted cost disparities between private and public facilities.
