Suits Filed in Pittsfield Court Reach 44 000
A flood of civil cases filled the Sun River Superior Court Tuesday afternoon. Francis R. Cone of Pittsfield, through William H. and Shiry of Cheshire, filed a $300,000 personal injury suit. Rex Realty of Fall River listed 16 cases, led by Eben C. Kimball doing business as Kimball Stables of Lenox seeking nearly $1.7 million. Various plaintiffs, including James Hanna, Edna Harina, and others from Pittsfield and nearby towns, pursued motor tort and contract claims with damages varying up to thousands of dollars.

Belgian investigators linked a 1961 Sabena Boeing 707 crash to a material deficiency in aircraft controls. The disaster near Brussels killed 78, including famed U.S. figure skaters Maribel Vinson Owen and her children Laurence and Maribel, as the team headed to Prague for the world championship.
