A Great Barrington woman was slightly injured Saturday afternoon when her car collided with a northbound truck on North Plain Road near Division Street after her dog distracted her. Deputy Chief Reed investigated. Separately, a mailing canvass for the Southern Berkshire Community Fund plans letters and return envelopes for contributions, with James J. Comerford leading the effort in Great Barrington.

Hall To Speak At 4-H Day At Barrington Fair
Robert M. Hall of Dalton will be principal speaker at the 4-H Achievement Day banquet on Sept. 9 at the Barrington Fair. Miss Kay Betty Leining will be mistress of ceremonies, and Hall plans to return to Vietnam Sept. 10. Leining, a 1967 Mount Everett graduate studying animal science at UMass, has 11 years in 4-H. Berlin Central announces lunch prices for the year
In all Berlin Central School District schools this year lunch prices are 35 cents for a single lunch and 50 cents for a double lunch. Milk is 3 cents per carton for students bringing their own lunch and is also available at elementary schools during morning recess.

Press Club Guests to Attend Fair Races and Lunch
GREAT BARRINGTON The Valley Press Club of Springfield will visit Ed ward J. Carroll on Wednesday Sept 10 for a two day event at the fairgrounds. Federal Court Thursday filed by Director William E. Williams a tax lien for 3076 dollars against Charles E. Wyman of Hartsville a lumber dealer. The lien covers withholding taxes and was imposed June 20.

Sheffield officials seek rate cuts from utility
At a Friday night meeting Sheffield Selectmen announced receipt of a letter from Ralph C. Vallen district manager of Massachusetts Electric Co signaling a meeting with company officials to discuss requests for lowering local power rates. Citizens had urged action saying current rates hinder community development. A lodging house permit was granted to Leah Silver on South Main Street and Mary Andersen was approved for Plain Holm Antique Shop. The town plans taking 330.5 acres on South Main Street Route 7 to cover a back tax bill of 3839.31 for 1968 under Norman E. Rioux.
