Remember when comic books sparked fears of control
A lively arts column recalls the era when comic books were deemed dangerous and threats of censorship surged. It notes TV's rise ending comics as a mass kiddie medium, then pop art reviving adult interest, plus a New York meeting selling back issues for up to 25 dollars. The piece then surveys network shakeups and program changes across ABC CBS and NBC, naming Batman on ABC with Adam West and Burt Ward, O'Brien, Shindig, Peyton Place, and other shifts, predicting further TV industry turmoil.
