Texaco selects Colonial design for new South Street station
Texaco plans a Colonial style service station on South Street near West Housatonic, opening this week and replacing the usual glass boxes. The single story red brick building sits obliquely on a 14 acre lot with a cupola and aims to present professional auto services from gas to car wash and body work under manager Alphonse Caprio. Caprio, ex GE Polaris engineer, will run a centralized service concept with a fixed monthly package for safety checks and maintenance, reflecting a shift from grime to professional image.
